Job Logistics: Primary location proposed is New Orleans, La. but monthly travel throughout the Gulf Coast between Corpus Christi and the Florida Panhandle could be required based upon project location.

Job Location: Preferably New Orleans with Houston as an alternate

Basic Engineering Discipline: Mechanical Engineer with fundamental understanding of heat transfer and basic thermodynamics. The position entails, but is not limited to, application engineering support of steam, air, and water specialty products in petroleum refining, chemical processing, pulp/paper, and commercial/institutional markets. Steam heating/tracing, piping design, pressure vessel design, steam flow and condensing rate calculations are all part of the routine activities within this position. Exposure to AutoCAD, Solidworks, Matlab, Simulink or equivalent tools would be of value as the position holder is assigned more involved responsibilities after the first year. Internship experience with any of the major oil companies' downstream operations or their supplier groups would be useful but not required.

The Position under review has both Strategic and Tactical Elements as follows:

STRATEGIC ELEMENTS

  • Focus on the profitable development of all, steam, air, and water specialty product lines manufactured in house and represented by the company. This is to provide Research & Development interface between the company's resources and the client's need perception, drive new product launches to in house personnel and Industrial end users.
  • Provide in house training for client and company personnel including syllabus development and product feature/benefit profiles. Assist the sales force in the data collection requirements of equipment selection and the promotion of the company's service, repair and maintenance capabilities via value proposition development.
  • Become competent in and apply technology specific to in house manufactured products and those of the principals represented by the company in the steam air and water specialty field, additive manufacturing, 3-D printing etc. with the driven initiative of driving growth in markets not currently served.

TACTICAL ELEMENTS

  • This is a Staff technical role to support both product and service business development efforts within End User, EPC and Service market
  • Provide Research & Development interface between the company's resources and the client's need perception and drive new product launches to in house personnel and Industrial end users.
  • Provide in house training for client and company personnel including syllabus development and product feature/benefit profiles.
  • Assist the sales force in the data collection requirements of equipment selection and the promotion of the company's service, repair and maintenance capabilities via value proposition development.
  • Become competent in the application of specific in house manufactured products and those of the principals represented by the company in the steam air and water specialty field, additive manufacturing, 3-D printing, etc. with the initiative of driving growth in markets not currently served.
  • Make field walk-through with outside sales and service personnel to gather required information to adequately specify and size products, assist in the development of the scope of work and assist in generating a cost estimate and client proposal.
  • Interface with and support client representatives/engineers, TSE Sales, LSE Sales, UOG Sales/Service personnel regarding product and service applications.
  • Develop and write detailed technical proposals and reports.
  • Develop and/or coordinate with other Planner/Scheduler/Estimator staff on detailed estimates for product supply, fabrication and turnkey projects.
  • Assist in developing job packages and communicating necessary project related information with Field Service.
