We control 489 million tons of reserves of commercial silica, which can be processed to make197 million tons of finished products that meet American Petroleum Institute ("API") frac sand specifications, and 79 million tons of reserves of diatomaceous earth, perlite, and clays.The Company is headquartered in Katy, Texas, and has an office located in Reno, Nevada.The Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for leading all facets associated with driving continuous improvement efforts within U.S. Silica plant operations within the Oil & Gas Business Unit. The role's main focus is to identify and improve the outcomes of manufacturing and operational processes to improve efficiencies, reduce cost and increase customer satisfaction. The Continuous Improvement Manager will report into the VP of Operations Oil & Gas.This person could sit in Katy, TX or work from home (remote). Travel will be 50-75%.Essential Job Functions:Drives Continuous Improvement to quantitatively and qualitatively improve costs, quality,and service.Conduct root cause analysis to determine metrics, troubleshoot manufacturing/ business issues, material flow, project. plans, production capacity, facility design and create process documentation.Carry out advanced data collection and analysis for process mapping, develop budgets and cost analysis to determine project feasibility.Measure performance against capital expenditure strategy and process manufacturing strategy.Drive value stream mapping to define "As-Is Analysis" and the transition to Future State.Train and educate the organization and implement continuous improvement methodologies including but not limited to 6 Sigma, 5S, Lean, OEE, PBE and others.Ensure successful implementation and leverage of lean operating principles across the locations assigned.Assist production employees and teams in improving operational excellence.Identify key waste initiatives, including seeking out and eliminating waste in all plant functions.Perform internal and external benchmarking, analysis, target setting, and publishing of key performance indicators (KPI).Lead Kaizen blitz events when opportunities are uncovered to improve existing processes and strive to instill positive sustainability.Additional duties as assigned.Experience, Knowledge and Skills:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.Mineral Processing experience required3-5 years of experience leading continuous improvement initiatives in a process manufacturing environment.Experience leading and training field operations on LEAN methodologies.Six Sigma Green or Black Belt a plusExperience leading KAIZEN events.Systemic problem solver, with experience implementing solutions to solve root cause problems.Ability to handle multiple, complex priorities and balance the needs of each according to business impact.Experience in a variety of manufacturing areas (production, logistics, supply chain, etc.)Creative and change-oriented Continuous Improvement process skills.Ability to work with abstract and complex concepts as well as communicate them in an easy to understand way.Experience utilizing root cause analysis techniques (fishbone diagram, pareto charts, 5 Whys, etc.)Advanced communication skills to work in a team environment and lead through influence.Implementation planning, coaching and facilitation skills.Ability to work successfully with a broad range of employees ranging in level from frontline to senior leadership.Strong Project Management skills.Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.Experience with JDE a plus.Experience with Power Point, Excel and Power BI a plus.Travel required: Twice a month or more.
