We have an immediate opening for an Sr. Cost Accountant to join our Finance CoE at our World HQ in Cleveland, Ohio. The primary function of this role is Senior Cost Accountant is the accounting, reporting, analysis, and reconciliation of Inventory, Material, Freight, Warranty, and Labor / Overhead / SG&A expenses for all First Brands Group Business Units

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that all inventory (Raw / WIP / Finished Good) is properly valued, inventory transactions are properly recorded, and adequate inventory controls are in place
  • Responsible for the accounting of purchased finished goods, raw materials/components, packaging, import / inbound / outbound freight (including customs duties and other import costs), warranty returns / expenses, and scrap
  • Calculate, book, and report appropriate levels of obsolete and slow-moving inventory reserves, and drive the disposition of obsolete / scrapable materials
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely month end close process for cost accounting related activities. Includes month end cost accounting reports and analysis, variance review, and metrics reporting
  • Develop standard product costs, and take part in the annual standard cost roll process
  • Prepare cost estimates for new or special products in support of production forecasts and profitability analysis
  • Provide on-site support for physical inventories
  • Work with external auditors to ensure compliance
  • Support the Distribution & Manufacturing operations as needed
  • Maintain accurate account reconciliation's for inventory and other accounts, as assigned
  • Maintain tracking of approved capital requests, construction in process and annual verification of fixed assets

The ideal candidate will have the following combination of education and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Must have minimum 3+ years' accounting experience in manufacturing environment
  • Solid grasp of standard cost accounting, including cost variance analysis
  • Understanding of GAAP and SOX
  • Oracle experience strongly desired
  • Strong analytical skills and inquisitive approach
  • Advanced Excel skills; solid skills in other Office products
  • Ability to prioritize complex activities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to positively and effectively communicate with all levels within the organization
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, follow instruction and problem solve
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% (post COVID)
