Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Customer Interface on the Jobsite

a. Serve as a key point of contact on the job site for new and existing customers

b. Provide superior customer service on the job site

c. Satisfactorily resolve any on-site construction or crew related issues in an accurate, timely, safe, quality, confidential, and on/under budget manner

d. Communicate any on-site construction or crew related issues to Foreman

e. Elevate for discussion/approval with the Foreman all matters with the potential impact of more than $1,000

f. Return all calls/emails within 1 business day of receipt

2. Supervise Jobsite Set-Up including project Materials Requirements

a. Arrive at the job site on time each workday

b. Ensure that Apprentice picks up materials required for completion of the job/project (office, retail store, etc.)

c. Ensure that Apprentice Loads/Unloads the required job materials to be utilized each workday such as lumber, tools, and other job-specific materials and equipment

d. As needed transport materials, tools, and equipment from one job site to another

e. Ensure that Apprentice sets up the job site to complete specific requirements in an efficient and safe manner (including but not limited to run lines for power tools, charge batteries for battery-related tools, layout tools, setup sawhorses, etc.)

f. Ensure that Apprentice prepares and sets up equipment to complete demolition of a job site to tear out and removal of the old in preparation for installation of the new

3. Supervise/complete all areas of Construction/Carpentry

a. Prioritize projects, assign worksite tasks to crew members, procures materials when necessary, files work orders to maintain written and/r electronic records of projects

b. Instruct and train crew members in proper work methods and standards; monitor crew work quality; ensure adherence to time schedule and safe work practices, provide performance feedback both positive and constructive, and input into crewmember performance reviews

c. Supervise the Apprentice Carpenter and/or do light construction duties and all other areas of construction including but not limited to painting, rough framing, minor electrical, minor plumbing, tile, drywall, cabinetry, flooring, waterproofing, installing windows and doors, etc.

d. Supervise the Apprentice Carpenter and/or do the performance of the required construction/carpentry duties to contribute to the completion of the work for a job in an accurate, on time, efficient, safe, within acceptable quality standards, and on/under budget

e. Supervise the Apprentice or ensure you do the job/project with quality craftsmanship to reflect value associated with a potentially higher price

f. Supervise the Apprentice or ensure that you minimize any rework and that the 2nd time provides complete customer delight

g. Ability to assign and supervise the work of others, provide instruction, lead a crew, and inspire confidence

4. Supervise Jobsite Tear Down and Clean-Up

a. Ensure that the Apprentice tears down equipment used at the job site

b. At the end of the workday, ensure that the job site is cleaned up, removed of all debris, tools are packed up, unused materials put away, & any equipment used that day is taken down

c. Ensures that the Apprentice cleans up any debris and keeps the job site cleaned up and out of the way of other crew members throughout the day to ensure the safety of the workers moving about the area

d. Ensure that the crew leaves the job site as clean or cleaner than the start of the workday

e. This includes cleanup and removal of any demolition related areas of the job site too

5. Job Progress (JP) System

a. Able to clock in/out at job sites

b. Able to enter receipts, pictures, and other documents as needed to individual jobs

c. Able to read production schedules

d. Able to read drawings, work orders, and follow work order instructions to complete tasks

e. Able to upload concise field notes

f. Able to log daily events, and task completions in JP

6. Other Construction-Related Projects as assigned by Foreman

a. Responsible to maintain an up-to-date list of prioritized projects as established and agreed to with Foreman

b. Responsible to complete assigned projects in an accurate, timely, safe, quality, and on/under budget as established and agreed to with the Foreman

SKILLS & EXPECTATIONS:

Ø Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, owner, prospects, and customers

Ø Mechanical Skills: The ability to operate light construction equipment such as trenchers and forklifts and set up scaffolding and other materials is essential for construction helpers

Ø Physical Stamina/Strength: Lead Carpenters must be able to lift at least 50lbs. and carry heavy tools and equipment in all kinds of weather daily

Ø Must possess the visual acuity to operate equipment and company vehicles, perform carpentry tasks, inspect the work of others, and review work for accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness

Ø Listening: Following instructions to ensure proper installation of materials and workplace safety calls for strong listening skills in this occupation

Ø Organizational Skills: Setting up tools and materials at a worksite requires above-average organizational skills for Lead Carpenters

Ø Math Skills: Measuring materials when cutting lumber or pouring concrete means that construction helps must often call on adequate math skills

Ø Time Management: In most cases, building projects are on a schedule and it's essential that Lead Carpenters can complete assigned tasks and projects in a timely manner

Ø Carpentry Skill Training & Development: Lead Carpenters must be willing to observe, learn, ask questions, and take notes while working hands-on alongside the Foreman and Owner

Ø Ability to work well and deliver results in a fast-paced, demanding work environment

Ø Team Player, professional and responsive to internal and external customers

Ø Flexible work schedule and willingness to work nights and weekends Adhere to the demands of potential customers schedules; last-minute schedule changes happen

Ø High level of attention to detail. No two homes are exactly alike, making it necessary to build an individualized approach for each home project.

Ø Can perform responsibilities independently or with minimal ongoing direction

Ø Can follow instructions and likes physical labor and working with their hands

Ø Utilizing technology is a must. Experienced utilizing technology in previous work environments including - Microsoft Office

Ø Excellent communication skills both internally (up, down, and sideways) and with customers

Ø Considerable knowledge of work hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with assigned areas of work

Ø Knowledge of the laws and regulations related to supervision

Ø Ability to obtain an acceptable result on a pre-hire drug test and background check and remain in compliance with our substance abuse and criminal related rules and testing requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

A High School diploma is required, and an Associates's Degree or comparable Certification is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity is preferred. Proven collaboration and customer-focused skills and experience. Proven experience in home remodeling construction. Must show proven experience in all construction-related aspects of supporting a similar business. This position entails working outdoors and on-site, and it is necessary to be familiar with using the tools of the carpenter trade as follows: Hand Tools (hammers, saws, crowbars, etc.), Power Tools (drills, power saws, tile cutters, nail guns etc.), and Machinery (forklifts, trenchers, etc.).
