Meyer is looking for a Maintenance Technician to Join our Team!

About the role:

Responsible for the maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment, furniture and exterior grounds at all Meyer facilities, as well as provide leadership and training for Maintenance Assistants.

Essential Job Duties:

* Perform various building and grounds maintenance functions, including general building repairs, minor electrical repairs and modifications, office and furniture repairs and rearrangement, building painting, equipment installation and repair, exterior grounds maintenance, recycling and hazardous waste disposal, as well as perform carpentry, plumbing and welding functions as needed to maintain the facilities.
* Understand and follow all safety policies, procedure and standards.
* Follow all policies and procedures in Employee handbook.
* Proper administration and timely submission of all the projects, reports, document and info.
* Maintain all equipment properly to prevent hazards and ensure correct operation.
* Monitor, on a daily basis, the proper and safe performance and operation of all equipment.
* Oversee the quality work & safe performance of outside contractors for such things as; general construction, HVAC, plumbing, roofing and landscaping.
* Assist with the repair and rearrangement of office furniture, equipment and partitions, as required.
* Order shop equipment and supplies as approved by the Facilities Manager
* Insure that all the work area's are maintained in a clean and tidy fashion
* Ensure that all maintenance and machine shop equipment is in good operating condition before using.
* Maintain all tools and equipment in a safe and secure manner.
* Obtain estimates of job costs for facility repairs and maintenance and present to Facilities Manager for approval
* Actively work with safety committee personnel to identify and eliminate possible safety hazards.
* Perform minor repairs to CCTV equipment.
* Assist Meyer Electrician with installation of electrical equipment and wiring, as directed
* Use the forklift to pick up heavy objects, Fork lift certification is required
* Be able to travel to all facilities to perform maintenance and repair functions.
* Responds and assists in any and all emergencies that occur on Facility premises, including response to call-back duties and/or situations.
* All other related duties as directed by the Senior Manager of Facilities and Engineering

Minimum Qualifications:

* Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent.
* Requires 3 years of experience in maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment, furniture and landscaping.
* Must possess strong mechanical and construction skills, to perform maintenance and repairs in a timely manner.
* Must possess interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with Meyer employees as well as outside contractors.
* Computer skills to include but not limited to: Word, Outlook and Excel.
* Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English and follow directions.
* Requires a valid California driver's license.
* Must possess the mental and physical capacities necessary to perform the job duties.
* Forklift certification is required

Working Conditions:

Work is performed primarily in the warehouse, although outdoor tasks are required. Lighting is artificial. Equipment used may include the use of telephones, power tools, hand tools, plumbing tools and power driven lift. Individual will have constant exposure to dust, excessive noise, heat, cold, fumes and chemicals. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending over, crawling, climbing, reaching overhead, kneeling, crouching, balancing, pushing and pulling, repetitive use of both hands, grasping, fine dexterity, being around other work equipment and machinery, driving cars, trucks, forklifts, walking on uneven ground, as well as lifting up to 50 lbs. Both work days, as well as hours of work may vary, according to the requirements of the DC. Must carry company provided telephone and be on call.
