In collaboration with other team members, the Mechanical Engineer will implement our equipment, design standards, and related improvement projects in line with customer requirements and the ITW 80/20 philosophy.Perform the design, analysis, and/or evaluation of advanced mechanical and electro-mechanical systems with minimal supervision.Identify opportunities and use market/customer observations/feedback to drive product improvements.Prepare clear, complete, detailed, and accurate 3-D models and drawings using Creo for engineering, manufacturing, tooling, literature, and quality assurance.Creates manufacturing drawings suitable for assembly.Manage change control of components and bills of materials.Create and maintain accurate multi-level Bills of Material (BOM) and entering them into the ERP system.Partner with manufacturing and suppliers to develop solutions for meeting cost targets for projects.Conduct engineering studies and partner with operations, field services, and customers to diagnose problems, apply root cause analysis, determine cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and reliability.Apply the ITW 80/20 business processes, draw conclusions using critical information from available data, and lead projects.Travel (10%) to suppliers and customer facilities.Ability to lift 25 lbs.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsRequires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, (BSME).1-5 years of experience in design engineering working in a product development environment within a cross functional engineering team in the fields of machine design, conveyor, or material handling equipment design, and/or robotic system design.Proficient in the use of 3D modeling software. Required Pro/E (Creo) software.Proficient in the use of 2D modeling software. AutoCAD.Proficient in the use of PDM system, Required Windchill.Experience with GD&T, able to perform stack up tolerance analysis.Effective oral, interpersonal, and written communications as well as effective presentation skills.Ability to perform analysis using the following tools and/or processes: FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) required.Intermediate knowledge of automation technologies required.Basic knowledge of D365 is a plusAdditional InformationITW is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
