Plumbing Technician Overview

Our plumbing technicians are responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while working directly with our residential and business customers to perform installation and repair to pipes and equipment that supply water, gas, or carry waste away. Our plumbing technicians also rough in and install fixtures such as bathtubs, sinks, toilets, and appliances working with high end general contractors and sub-contractors. Our plumbing technicians are responsible to do the following work independently; employ critical thinking to diagnose + troubleshoot; determine recommendations and solutions efficiently; be decisive; plan repair or installation through on-site quote creation; execute repair or installation; test outcomes to ensure proper operation; and ensure no lingering issues exist; review and understand blueprints, rough in drains, vents, and supplies for partial to whole house renovation projects.

General Responsibilities

  • Employ excellent time management skills throughout the day in order to work efficiently and decisively to avoid unnecessary delays which can negatively impact service to customers, reflect negatively upon the company and diminish overall company profitability.
  • Always exhibit the highest level of excellence in workmanship and customer service.
  • Know how to establish customer trust to offer the correct products and services for their specific need.
  • Be a critical thinker with proficient ability to solve problems with decisive action.
  • Be punctual and efficient in consideration of our customer's personal time and our business operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized job site and well inventoried truck.
  • Prepare in advance for service calls and projects by utilizing company software for weekly & daily work schedule, needed equipment and supplies, load list, and/or work order updates.
  • Plan ahead for needed supplies and equipment for upcoming projects and service calls in order to work efficiently and prevent rescheduling or work delays. Communicate supply or inventory stock issues to Inventory Manager with advance notice for timely restocking for your projects and service calls.
  • Properly and accurately load vehicle for upcoming projects and service calls by employing organizational and critical thinking skills to work efficiently and avoid unnecessary trips to the shop, home improvement store, or other during your workday.
  • Work together with the Scheduling Coordinator and Billing Manager as needed.
  • Update 'parts' folder in company software for any needed supplies, equipment, or inventory issues.
  • Keep accurate records of working hours, description of work performed, and materials used per customer work order.
  • Ability to provide on-call after hours & weekend service on a rotational basis.
  • Follow state laws and regulations and adhere to local building codes.
  • Participate actively in company training and company activities.
  • Continuous demonstration of self-improvement and professional development through education, licensing, training, and on-the-job learning.
  • Train and mentor apprentices as needed to ensure duplication of company standards, as well as quick, accurate repairs and installations.
  • Communicate directly with Estimator, Scheduling Coordinator, Billing Manager, Inventory Manager, and Fleet Manager whenever needed.
  • Requirements

  • Masters plumbing license a plus but not required.
  • Minimum 2 years residential plumbing experience. Electrical experience a plus but not required.
  • PA state driver's license.
  • Ability to operate excavation equipment a plus but not required.
  • Ability to pass a medical exam to obtain a medical card.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent understanding of plumbing materials, equipment, and tools.
  • Skilled knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and technical designs.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to accurately troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve problems.
  • Skilled in piping and ventilation systems.
  • Highly organized and keen attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work a rotational on-call schedule.
