What are my responsibilities?

The Schematics & Apparatus Engineer is responsible for delivering high performance engineering solutions within agreed timelines and budget to support business and broad company objectives.

In this role you are responsible for the design of train electrical schematics on projects such as overhauls. You develop vehicle electrical schematics and wire lists using inputs provided by Electrical Engineers, and report progress to the Train Electrical Engineer.

You are fully comfortable and autonomous with reading, analyzing, and designing electrical schematics. You know how to use design tools such as Zuken E3 Series or AutoCAD electrical to develop new schematics or modify existing ones. You are confident in leading internal and external vehicle schematics design reviews.

You provide carry-over analysis on electrical products, by defining material that will be retained and material that will be removed as part of the overhaul project.

You continuously work with the Train Electrical Engineer to ensure all electrical requirements and systems interfaces are adequately integrated in the vehicle schematics. You also support the Train Electrical Engineer with cable routing and cable harness drawings development to the Mechanical Design team, including the definition of component part numbers for wiring, relays, circuit breakers, terminal boards, or connectors.

You support and push for design optimizations, risk mitigations and contribute to reliability, maintainability, and safety analysis to ensure a fully integrated, safe & compliant design. You liaise with other engineers and experts to ensure compliance with the appropriate Industry Standards.

Ultimately you are accountable for the on-time delivery of all train electrical schematics and wire list, with respect to committed budget and with high level of Quality. You also provide technical support to the test team with train-level validation but also the Production Line, Procurement and Quality teams.

You organize and structure your personal workload to achieve consistent on-time delivery against the Engineering plan and with the support of the Train Electrical Engineer.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Accountable for the on-time delivery and within budget of train electrical schematics & wire list, primarily for overhaul projects
  • Developing electrical schematics with direct inputs from the Train Electrical Engineer and System Engineers
  • Identifying and defining systems electrical interfaces to ensure all electrical requirements are adequately integrated
  • Supporting the Train Electrical Engineer in providing design information to the Mechanical team for cable routing and cable harness drawings development, as well as the Industrial Engineering team for manufacturing aspects
  • Optimizing the design configuration of vehicle schematics to facilitate Production and Testing activities
  • Ensuring vehicle schematics design is compliant with applicable standards for reliability, safety, maintainability as well as customer requirements
  • Providing support to the Production Line, Testing, Procurement and Quality teams
  • Providing process optimizations and promoting continuous improvement initiatives
  • Travel of up to 10% may be required to support business meetings, Production Line support, or Validation and Test activities.

    The Schematics & Apparatus Engineer ensures adequate and effective solutions are defined and is accountable for the vehicle electrical schematics development. The Schematics & Apparatus Engineer also ensures deliverables are provided in line with schedule and financial aspects.

    You are versatile, autonomous, resourceful, with hands-on experience and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering
  • Bachelor s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent combination of training
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in Zuken E3 or AutoCad Electrical
  • Knowledge of schematics development
  • Experience with railway electrical design (schematics, harnesses, cable routing )
