The Position

Smart Wires is seeking a Sustaining Engineer to join our Global Engineering Team. This role will provide engineering support to ensure the highest level of technical service to internal and external customers. This role reports directly to the Director of Sustaining Engineering.

Primary Responsibilities

* Collect data from maintenance and engineering sources and perform statistical analysis to monitor, evaluate and provide solutions to the operational and technical performance of the Smart Wires deployed fleet of assets
* Analyze data to determine root cause of failures, provide recommendations for maintenance program adjustments
* Identify and prioritize reliability drivers requiring resolution/mitigation
* Support the development and upkeep of the Condition-Based Maintenance service for deployed assets
* Work cross-functionally to develop tools for tracking, reporting, and diagnosing issues; automate where possible

* Identify, triage, and provide technical support to resolve a wide variety of hardware, firmware software, operational, and system-level issues

* Collaborate with the Projects Team to schedule and execute planned and unplanned maintenance activities
* Develop recommendations on spare requirements for the deployed fleet, monitor device performance and adjust recommendations and spare targets as needed
* Support commissioning and testing
* Keep track of firmware revisions, PCBA revisions, and device settings of the deployed fleet of assets


* Bachelors degree in Engineering or Data Science
* 5+ years of energy industry experience preferred
* Proficient in data trend analysis
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* Ability to work with various internal and external technical stakeholders
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Excellent attention to details
* Strong organization and documentation abilities
* Self-motivated and willing to take initiative

Desired Skills and Experience

* Master's degree in Engineering or Data Science
* 10 years relevant industry experience
* Six Sigma experience
* Experience in working with offshore teams


The reporting location will be at the Smart Wires headquarters based in Durham, North Carolina, with the ability to work remotely when workload dictates.

Travel Requirements

Ability to travel up to 20% both domestically and internationally

Safety Requirements
